Biologic Treatment for Psoriasis

Biologics are immune system specialists, designed to reduce psoriasis inflammation at its source. Each biologic works in its own precise way. So, while you may have previously been on a biologic, that doesn’t mean your next one won’t be equally or more effective.

Standard systemic therapies and biologics are different. While the standard therapies inhibit the immune system at several points, biologics specifically target the psoriasis inflammation process.

Biologics are administered by subcutaneous injection or infusion and are generally used to treat moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.

Not every biologic medicine works in the same way. So, if one doesn’t work, another one might. Speak to your dermatologist if you have not seen an improvement in your psoriasis while on biologic therapy.
